Susan "Hanna" Howitz

Howitz Susan (Hanna) passed away in the early morning on April 15,2021 in Hot Springs, AR, she was 62. Susan was born in NE Minneapolis, she graduated from Edison High School and St. Scholastica University. She worked at Northwestern Bell for 30 years and retired from CenturyLink.  She was an avid dancer, from polka to disco, she loved it all and also had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Susan was very active in politics, she worked on many campaigns, and served on the civil rights commission. She was the treasurer to the city council president, and even ran for city council once herself. Susan was very proud of all her accomplishments. She spent her last days in Hot Springs, AR enjoying her beautiful view of the lake, with new friends, and not having to shovel ever again. Susan is preceded in death by her father, Robert Howitz. She is survived by her daughter Emma, her granddaughter Lola, her mother Joann, her siblings Steve, Petch, Peggy, and John, her ex-husband Paul Hanna, and many nieces, nephews, their spouses and their children. Services will be held at St. Clements Catholic Church, 901 24th Ave NE Minneapolis on Friday, May 7th. Visitation will be from 1pm to 2pm followed by mass at 2pm.There will be a reception at the Ukrainian American Community Center, 301 Main St NE Minneapolis starting at 4pm. All are welcome.
