Sarah Elizabeth Brooks Brewer – Harmon

Sarah Brewer, as her friends called her was born on August 17, 1924, unto the union of Rev. Edward Augustine Sebeh Brooks and Ms. Sophia Harris Brooks of Bunker Hill, East Harper City Maryland County, Liberia, WA. She was the first of her mother and second child of her father. She came into this world as a twin with a male protector who was named Stephen. She was later blessed with another sister called Mary from her mother and 6 sisters and brothers from her dad. Sarah and her two siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents after their mother got sick and could no longer care for them as she wished. Sarah's grandfather William Harris educated her as far as the elementary level.

As the daughter, granddaughter, and niece of the preacher men, Sarah became a very active church member, and later came to that point (which we all must come to) and received Jesus as her Lord and savior, while listening to her husband preach a wonderful and inspiring sermon.  Sarah got married to the Rev. Thomas Henry Brewer who was 29 years her senior. A marriage she objected to at first when at God's appointed time she was called by her grandpa and grandma to let her know Rev. Brewer wanted her hand in marriage. However, the elders won and in 1942 the two wedded and lived together till death separated them on Feb 23, 1968. The union was blessed with 11 children, 9 sons and 2 daughters - Daniel Sasaro, Thomas Josiah, Dashward Jessie, Evans Banie, Stephen Johnathan, Annie Zean, Tilmon Thomas, Landis Augustus, James Henry, and Edward George Kla & Sophia Georgia. All these are the BREWERS of 35 Water Street. She was blessed with 106 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandson.  Amongst the grandchildren she reared Daniel Sasaro, Jr (Satonie) Gloria (Mapay) Saye Sebeh, Rosamund Dennis, Small Thomas, Berenice (Mush) Kerturah (Mum), Denia, Elizabeth (Tatay) and Thomas (Boy).

Afterward in 1985, Sarah married Mr. Hilary Harmon until he was killed during the Harper massacre in 1995. He had two daughters Esther and Catherine Harmon. She Reared the two girls as she did her own.

Sarah worked as a teacher's aide at the Agnes Thompson Kindergarten School in Harper, Maryland County.  She also worked as a janitor and retired in 1989.

Sarah became a member of the Mt. Scott United Methodist Church in Harper in 1942 when she got married to her first husband. There she served as treasurer and communion steward until 1990. She made sure all her children went to morning and evening worship services as well as Sunday School on Sundays.  She was a member of the Tuesday Cottage Prayer Band of Harper from 1970 - 1989, founded by the late Grace Dennis and the Midday Prayer Band.
