Michael (Mick) Joseph Maxey (AKA: “Head Hippie”) of NE Minneapolis,
passed away December 14 th 2023 at the age of 77 years young.
Mick’s smile and spirit was bright, he warmed every room he was in whether
he was traveling, on the softball field or hanging at the local bar. Mick
collected many close friends along the way and made a foe or two out of the
occasional umpire.
Mick served in the US Navy from 1964-1967. He volunteered and helped
fundraise for Partnership Resources where his sister Colleen attended. He
was a proud N.E. Minneapolis Lion and a volunteer at Catholic Elder Care for
many years. Mick was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by his Parents; Evelyn and Leonard Maxey, Brother; Kelly
Maxey, “Favorite Sister”; Colleen Maxey, Nephew; Joe Maxey, Brother-in-law;
Jim Tanberg and Grand Puppy Kira.
Mick is survived by his Daughter; Kate and Son-in-law Tai Nord Maxey,
Parenting Partner and Dear Friend; Francine Wickert, Brothers; Tom Maxey
(Connie), Terry Maxey (Kathy), Sisters; Eileen Weber (Larry), Kathy
Blachfelner (Ade), Sherry Tanberg, Patsy Skaja, Mary Maxey, Sister-in-law;
Kathy Maxey. Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and Grand Puppy Cy
Graveside service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery January 4 th 2024, 1:30
pm (Assembly Isle #6). Celebration of life to follow at Beast Barbecue (825 E.
Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis) 3pm-6pm.
