Obituary

Harris Everett Haugtvedt was born on August 8, 1935 in Greenbush, Minnesota, the son of Emil
and Hilda Haugtvedt. He grew up on the family farm, then moved to Bemidji, where he worked
at a grocery store and Olson Funeral home. He met Grace Vikre, and they were married in
1957. Their son, Sid, was born in 1959 on Valentine’s Day. Later in 1959, the family moved to
Minneapolis, then eventually purchased a home in Coon Rapids a couple of years later. In
1970, the family had a house built in Ramsey, Minnesota, where they lived until present. He
worked for Honeywell for several years, then got his real estate license and also was a general
contractor until he retired. He also raised German Shepherd Dogs, many of which received
specialized tracking training and went on to serve in law enforcement.
Harris loved to cook for family and large gatherings. He and Grace enjoyed traveling and music,
attending many concerts at various locations throughout the years.
