Francis John Stumpf, of St. Anthony, age 59, died at home Thursday, August 18, 2022, with family by his side, after a five-year battle with kidney cancer. He is preceded in death by parents Peter and Helen Stumpf and brother Peter Stumpf. He is survived by wife of 25 years, Nancy Worms Stumpf and daughters: Sophia (24), Audrey (21), and Clare (14). Frank was born on December 7, 1962, in St. Paul, MN where he was raised with his brothers and sisters: Jane (Patrick) Zappa, Peter - predeceased, Mary (predeceased James) Spangler, Stephen (Cindy), Gregory (Mary), Joan (Mike), Joseph (Wendy), Anne (Timothy) Bowlin. He was a 1981 graduate of Como High School, Saint Paul. He was married on November 22, 1996 and moved to St. Anthony Village where he and Nancy raised three adorable daughters, belonging to St. Charles Borromeo Parish and attending St. Charles Borromeo School. Frank was one of the founding members of St. Charles Borromeo’s Knights of Columbus Chapter in St. Anthony and devoted many initial hours establishing the chapter, faithfully serving his church and community. Frank started work for Metro Transit while attending college and provided over 30 dedicated years of service as a bus driver, driver instructor, Transit Ambassador, Assistant Manager, and Garage Transportation Manager. Frank followed, at work and in life, the guideline “Aim High in Steering” which spoke to his thoughtful approach to all situations and challenges, never losing sight of his commitment to God, family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, strength and sincerity, his superior pool playing and golf skills, overall athleticism, riveting storytelling vignettes, sparkling blue eyes, and dedication to family. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, and he will be sincerely missed by all.
