Dwayne Flowers Sr Obituary

Celebration of Life for Dwayne Darnell Flowers Sr.

With heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dwayne Flowers Sr., who peacefully transitioned on his own terms, resting in his bed at the age of 69 with a drink on the nightstand to toast a life well lived.

Dwayne was born on January 13, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Bonnie Logan and Roosevelt Williams, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Jackie R. Flowers, Ronnie P. Hunter, Rickie R. Flowers, and Latanya B. Flowers, along with a host of family and dear friends who held a special place in his heart.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unforgettable memories. Dwayne is survived by his siblings Lloyd Flowers (Sheila), Tammy Flowers, Amye Flowers, Tona Flowers (Leroy), and Sherrell Flowers (Tamica). He is also survived by his wife, Tracy Flowers, and his children Damon Davis, Deonte Kinney (Letia), Delisha Carter (Shaun), Deonnah Mason, Dwaunah Mason, Angel Branham, Dwayne Mason (Tanisha), Dwayne Flowers Jr., Datisha Flowers, and Tristika Small (Steven).

His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Romelle, Steven, Trystan, Dayton, Darrius, Dakovan, Danaja, Kalani, Deonta Jr., Daejunae, and Ava, and a few great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy on, each of whom brought him pride and joy.

Dwayne was also surrounded by a host of loving nieces and nephews, whom he loved as his own, along with many cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends whose lives were touched by his presence

Dwayne was a man of many layers, a provider, a personality, a storyteller, and a man who truly lived life on his own terms. He attended Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in the city where his bold spirit and larger-than-life personality began to take shape.

In his younger years, Dwayne was known for his hustle, his charm, and his undeniable style and presence. He self-proclaimed the title of a ‘pimp, player, and hustler’, a man who navigated life with confidence, charisma, and a whole lot of mischief. He broke many hearts along the way and mended a few too.

In 1987, he married Michelle Mason, and with that chapter he began seeking additional ways to provide by attending welding school. He later went on to build a long-standing career as a welder, eventually retiring from Brown-Campbell Welding Company.

In the early 90’s, Dwayne moved to Minnesota and in 1995 married Tracy Flowers, beginning another chapter of life, one that reflected growth, reflection, and a different kind of love. In his later years, he embraced the opportunity for what many would call “another chance”, settling down, learning, and continuing to evolve as a father, partner, and man. Through his work, he dedicated himself to being a provider, showing up, putting in the hours, and doing what needed to be done for his family.

No matter where life took him, whether Omaha, Kansas City, LA or Minneapolis, Dwayne remained Kansas City to the core. He was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, loved a good drink, and never turned down a chance to enjoy life, gamble, laugh loud, and be surrounded by people.

Dwayne was not a perfect man, but he was a real man. He lived boldly, made his choices, learned his lessons, and loved in his own way. His life tells a story of growth, resilience, and authenticity. From his mischievous youth to his later years of reflection and family, Dwayne lived fully and unapologetically.

If you knew him, you knew his energy. If you loved him, you understood his heart.

And if he could leave us with one final message, it would be the words he lived by:

“It Gets Greater Later.”

Today, we don’t just mourn Dwayne Flowers, Sr., we celebrate him.
We celebrate the laughter, the lessons, the stories, and the legacy he leaves behind…and we can’t forget that right hook & slick talk.

His life mattered. His story mattered.
And his spirit will live on through all who knew and loved him. Cheers in the words of Dwayne, “If IF was a FIFTH, we’d all be drunk”!
