Donald Carl Hickerson

On July 19th 2021 Donald Hickerson passed away at the age of 90.
 
Don was born March 12 1931 in St. Anthony Village, Minnesota to Carl and Dorothy Hickerson. He enlisted in the army at the age of 17 and served as a military policeman for 4 years. He joined the St. Anthony Village police department in 1957. He eventually went on to become the chief of police of that department. He retired from the police force in March of 1990.
 
He raised four children, Charise, Donald Jr, Lisa, and Gregg. He married his wife Barbara in 1982. He gained two step children, Linda and Sarah.
 
Don’s lifelong hobby was restoring old cars. He was also an avid hunter. He spent many years volunteering for the fraternal order of Eagles in New Brighton, Minnesota. He served as president of that post for twelve years. Don was also a skilled handyman, in addition to building his own house, he helped many others with building and repairing their homes.
 
Don was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Dorothy Hickerson, his son Scott, and his wife Barbara. He is survived by his children and step children Charise, Donald, Lisa, Gregg, Linda and Sarah, grandchildren Jessica, Katrina, Aleisha, William, Jennifer, Kari and Josh, Sisters Beverly and Marlene plus many nieces, nephews and great grandkids. 
 
Funeral services will be Tuesday July 27th 2021 at 11AM at the Billman-Hunt funeral home in northeast Minneapolis. Private interment will be held at a later date.
