Sylvester Johnson was born on March 13, 1927 in Smackover, Arkansas to parents, John and Willie Johnson. He married the love of his life, Lottie B. Cannedy on October 13, 1948 and they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where they made Greater St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. their church home.

Sylvester, known lovingly by his wife as “Joe Pie,” was a strong and determined man of God. His family and friends remember him as a gentle giant that was funny and loving but could shut you down with one look.
Sylvester was a hard-working provider who loved hunting, gardening, watching western shows, washing his car and spending time with his “Lottie”.

Sylvester “Joe” Johnson went to be with our Heavenly father on October 17, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lottie Johnson; children: Garlain (Thaloyce) Johnson, Henry Johnson, Sylvia Anderson, John (Gloria) Johnson and Donna Johnson, all of Minneapolis; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Willie Johnson; sisters, Corrine, Carrie, and Thelma; brothers, Nathaniel and Augusta “Fish” Johnson.

Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21st at Greater St. Paul Church of God in Christ Church in Minneapolis.
