Robert Pfeifer Obituary

Bob was born in Minneapolis, the youngest of the three children of Clarence and Virginia Pfeifer. Bob, brother Joe and sister, Ginger enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in South Minneapolis, west of Lake Nokomis. Family vacations were up North on Cross Lake at Echo Bay Lodge with friends returning each year for years, and Park Rapids at Bonnie Lake Resort. Fishing, swimming, playing and good meals made good memories. Also, for years the Pfeifer family enjoyed going to Grandma Rose and Grandpa John's for Sunday Dinners with the Pfeifer cousins. Taffy and Mama dog, cocker spaniels brought fun and excitement to our visits. Grandma Rose's dinners of Roast Beef or chicken with all the trimmings and Pie for desert were the best.

Bob enjoyed childhood playing with neighbors and Resurrection Grade School Friends. He biked, swam, ice skated, played tennis and also the piano and guitar. He became a good photographer and participated in Junior Achievement, making and selling Almond Bark and other items.

Bob and family helped Grandpa Cyril and Grandma Bertha Libby in their old age, bringing them Sunday Dinners and food for the week, and spent time with them. Bob was influenced by Grandpa Cyril's sense of humor, and happy perseverant attitude even amidst trials of life. Bob attended De LaSalle H.S. and St Thomas College. During college, he developed a tumor behind his pituitary gland and the Mayo Clinic did a relatively new procedure which destroyed the tumor and gland internally, he needed to take hormones for life. He graduated in Business from St. Thomas. He worked in Sales and Marketing, but also worked at other jobs.

Bob came to the aid of his mother and father in their old age, He returned to their home and helped support them to be able to live in their home as long as possible. He helped with his mother's care and then visited mother at White Bear Lake Nursing Home. He assisted his father with household and outdoor maintenance. He drove Clarence to medical appointments, shopped, cooked, did laundry and cleaned. Bob inherited his parents sense of musical rhythm and love of dancing. He and good friend, Joyce Greenstein became superb dancers and often people just cleared the floor to marvel at their dancing, and then applauded! Bob and Joyce enjoyed going to the beach, and walks and play with beloved dogs, Bandi and Frito. Bob helped Joyce with her mother's need in her senior years. Bob learned early in Faith formation to answer the question,  "why did God make you?" "God made me to know Him, love Him and serve Him and be happy with Him in Eternal Life." From the Bible: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard what God has in store for those who love Him." Bob loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his Church, his parents and neighbors -- may he have eternal happiness and peace!
