Janet Marie Mestas, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park. She was 61 years old.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Laura Mestas; siblings: Chuck Mestas, Johnny Mestas, David Mestas, and Sandra Wallette; granddaughter, Maia Rayne Mestas.

She leaves to cherish her memory four adult children: Barbara (Charles Lewis) Mestas, Robert (Kelly) Mestas, Felicia Mestas, and Michael (Jaclyn Enstad) Mestas; nine grandchildren: Charles Lewis III, Kristine Lewis, Deshon Root, Robert Mestas, Jr., Malik Mestas, Kamryn Mestas, Amari Mestas, Michael Mestas, Jr., and Drake Mestas; siblings, Donna (Jim) Bell, Lorie Mestas, and Joseph Mestas; her dear niece, Penny Garcia Gomez; and a host of family members and close friends.

Janet was born in Minneapolis to Charles and Laura Mestas. She attended Minneapolis Central High School. Janet was a doting mother who dedicated her life to making sure that her children were raised with love and affection, even as a single mother.

Janet worked for Golden Living Center as a Dietary/Cook aide where she was well appreciated. During her time at Golden Living Center, she was awarded an outstanding productivity award, given to the company's most productive employee.

Janet enjoyed knitting, fill-it-in puzzles, bingo, and visiting with residents at the Golden Living Center. Janet loved her grandkids dearly and had the opportunity of helping raise two of them.
