John Louis Hoffmann
John was born on July 3, 1926. He shared that birthday with his twin brother, Jim. He was raised in a Christian home and attended Knox Presbyterian Church in South Minneapolis. He graduated from Washburn High School in 1944 and shortly thereafter joined the army to serve in the closing years of World War II.
John worked for his dad in the family business as an electrician at Hoffmann Electric until he retired. He was devoted to his parents and lived with them until he married Ida at 60 years of age. John died on August 18, 2017, one day after their 31st wedding anniversary.
John loved the arts, music of all kinds and ballroom dancing. He met Ida on the dance floor at the Marigold Ballroom in the 1970's. They dated for over 10 years until they finally got married and continued to dance together for many years afterwards. He enjoyed traveling and eventually started spending winters in Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, John Carl Geodfry Hoffmann and mother, Mabel Christine Bye; twin brother, James "Jim" (died in 2003).
John is survived by his wife, Ida; step-daughters, Adrian and Teresa; son-in-law, David; brother, Charles "Chuck"; sisters, Marjorie "Margie" and Joan; many nieces and nephews; other loving family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 23rd at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with gathering at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private family interment immediately following a social hour gathering.
